Museums, zoos and aquariums keep calling themselves "not-for-profit organizations", but we still have to pay a huge admission fee. If you want to have a family day, then be prepared to spend a lot of money: 2 adults and several kids mean costs over $100.
Luckily, you can get into many museums for literally FREE. They have a "free day" - typically a weekday - when you don't have to buy the ticket. Instead, donation in any amount is welcome. So as long as you know what day it is, it's really up to you how much you want to pay.
Not all museums broadcast this policy, as they try to maximize their admission revenue. So let me do the job. Here's an unfinished list of free days of select meseums / zoos / aquariums. This list is growing, so check back often.
